What is the Driver CPC qualification?
It is a professional requirement for driving known as the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC). The qualification is offered on behalf of the Department for Transport. The CPC will enhance the driver?s knowledge and skills of road safety.
Initial Driver CPC
To work as a professional driver, HGV/LGV drivers must obtain a Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
HTI help prepares first-time holders or newly qualified drivers. There are two modules:
Module 2: Case Study Theory- LGV/HGV or PCV
Module 4: Practical Demonstration test- LGV/HGV or PCV
At HTI we teach Module 2 & 4, the Initial Driver CPC is taken in two parts:
- Case Study Theory Test (Module 2):
The test is a combination of 6-8 short case studies conducted on a computer, based on situations you are likely to experience.
Pass Mark: 40 out of 50 questions must be correct.
- Practical Demonstration Test (Module 4).
This commences after completing Case Study 2 (Module 2) and conducted in two parts.
Vehicle Walk Round ? you will learn how to check your vehicle thoroughly with legal aspects.
Load Security ? you will show your understanding of webbing straps, ratchets, chains and expanding/tensioning bars.
Duration: 40 minutes
Pass Mark: Score 15 out of 20 points (75%) with an overall score of 80%
Result: Upon passing both Initial Driver CPC exams you will receive your Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
